The laptop hasn’t left out in the market formally and is expected to be launched in the month of June and in the event called Computex. Go on to know about the new, ultra mobile laptop and its features before it hits the market.

The performance of this laptop gives a competitive edge over others due to the very fact that it is got the very special processor. We feel that this is the laptop of the kinds, which will be having the highest specifications. The processor that is unique along with 1 GB of DDR2 RAM, 80Gb 5400rpm hard disk and Windows XP SP2 will obviously result in the optimum performance of the laptop. This performance also results in the doubtful situations where we will juggle between the choices. The optional battery is very promising. The specifications are very promising and they lead to a good experience.

The design gives the firs impressions of this Wind ultra-portable laptop which is surely a breeze. The looks of the laptop give an impression of being a solid structure leaving us to forget that it is made by plastic. Not very glossy, but the model is sure to be attractive. The screen and the keyboard are much bigger than those competitors’. The dimensions are At 260 x 180 x 19mm and it weighs 1.26kg. The keyboard and the key top are very comfortable to dwell with. The design is a comfortable one making you forget it is one of those reasonably priced laptops.

In line with this, manufacturers are transitioning to HD quality in all other types of video equipment too. Panasonic, consistent with its long-time position as a leader in the video field, is now introducing two advanced full-HD 3CCD camcorders, the HDC-SD9 and HDC-HS9.

The HDC-SD9 offers full-HD 1920 x 1080 progressive recording (25 frames per second) to capture images with a richness and beauty simply not possible with previous consumer camcorders. Users can record motion images with the kind of film-like quality enjoyed in movies at the cinema. The 17-Mbps bit rate of the HDC-SD9 gives superb image quality and motion response, while the high compression ratio enables one full hour of recording onto a 4-GB SD Memory Card (in HX mode) at full-HD resolution.

If you folks are eyeing a no-holds-barred A/V pre-amplifier and power-amplifier duo, the US$20,000 Denon AVP/POA-A1HD may be exactly what you need. The THX Ultra2-certified Denon AVP-A1HD will happily decode just about every surround sound format, including the latest studio-grade Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. It also packs a lethal punch in video-processing via an onboard HQV Realta chip, endowed with six full-featured HDMI 1.3 terminals, wireless music streaming and Internet radio.

The towering POA-A1HD power-amplifier, on the other hand, delivers a massive 3,000W output distributed among 10 audio channels. The similarly THX-certified deck is capable of supporting up to 20 independent loudspeakers and can be easily reconfigured for bi-amplification, too. If you own a power-hungry Maggie–slang for high-performance Magneplanar loudspeakers–you could downgrade (bridging) this whopper from 10 to 5 channels to gain a 500W/channel instant boost. That’s besides three assignable retro-like meters that dance to the rhythm from live audio feeds.

The new Canon EOS 40D represents the pinnacle of Canon’s midrange dSLR cameras and has a proud pedigree that stretches back seven years and through six generations of impressive models. While its predecessors featured minor improvements from model to model, the EOS 40D justifies its asking price with a barrage of useful and powerful new features. The EOS 40D has an increase in resolution–the first since the EOS 20D three years ago–from 8.2megapixels to 10.1megapixels. And to keep up with its competitors like the Nikon D300, it has a dust removal system and a Live View feature to enable framing with its 3-inch LCD monitor.

Design

In terms of size, the EOS 40D is almost identical to its older sibling, the EOS 30D, except that it’s a tad heavier. The grip is comfortable and the build quality is high. Photographers who are accustomed to earlier EOS models will find themselves taking to the EOS 40D’s handling like a duck to water. The camera has retained its predecessors’ familiar top-mounted main dial and rear jog dial (which Canon terms as a quick control dial) combination, as well as the large, top-facing status LCD. As with all high-end Canon dSLR cameras, the EOS 40D’s main dial (top) controls the aperture and shutter settings.

In manual mode, the main dial controls the shutter speed, while the quick control dial (rear) varies the aperture. Though Canon has stubbornly stuck to this control system for many years, we still find Nikon’s dSLR dual-control dial system for manual mode shooting more ergonomic. However, we also know of many Canon dSLR users who beg to differ. The EOS 40D has kept the same row of three buttons lining the top edge of the status LCD that is manifest in the 20D and 30D. Each button has a dual role, allowing users to adjust 1) metering mode or white balance, 2) focus or drive mode, and 3) ISO or exposure compensation (EV) using either the top main dial or rear quick control dial.

The rightmost ISO/EV button is particularly useful as it allows the photographer to keep his eye on the viewfinder in dynamic situations (like sports shooting) while changing ISO or EV on-the-fly.

A new feature that the EOS 40D borrowed from its higher-end compatriots is the AF-On button that’s positioned just under the status LCD. This button allows the photographer to maintain focus on a moving subject by pressing it with his thumb, and triggering the shutter release as and when he wants.

The EOS 40D’s menu layout features a page-by-page format similar to high-end EOS dSLRs. The navigation interface also remains the same; you can deploy either the “multi-controller” joystick at the rear or the jog dial… The joystick can also be used to select from nine autofocus points as well as fine-tuning white balance on the camera’s white balance grid interface.

The most obvious physical difference between the EOS 40D and the EOS 30D is the 3.0-inch LCD (23-pixel resolution) on the former. In addition, the column of control buttons that used to be positioned on the left edge of the LCD have been shifted to form a row below the LCD.

By paying careful attention to the sound system design, we can improve intelligibility quite significantly. The important factors include:

Install accurate speakers which provide controlled dispersion angles and even coverage.

The speakers must be selected and installed to provide accurate sound and project it evenly throughout the seating area of the room, and not into the ceiling where more echo is produced.

Use the right microphones for each application.

By using microphones which are carefully selected for accurate sound reproduction and proper pick-up and proximity characteristics we can greatly improve intelligibility. There is nothing worse that muddy sounding microphones or speakers to destroy intelligibility.

Use a speaker delay system in large rooms.

In larger rooms with front main speakers and fill-in speakers part way back, or under a balcony we use a digital delay system to “time align” the speakers. Without this, even more echo will be produced artificially.

Operation of the sound system is a serious ministry and the person who works with the sound must take it seriously. The sound operator should be a dependable person who has a servant’s heart, willing to cooperate and take directions, not touchy or easily offended. He should be a person with a good ear, attention span, and instinctives in working with sound mixing. He should be well trained and knowledgeable with the overall sound operation, as well as familiar with its technical abilities and limitations.

Operation of the sound system has to be rehearsed, just as singers and musicians do. The operator should be present for all rehearsals of the choir, orchestra, drama group, or similar events. He should make a chart of channel volumes and adjustments which sound best in rehearsals so that they can be easily duplicated during a performance. If there is no formal rehearsal for a vocalist or preacher, a “sound-check” must always be conducted sometime prior to a service, in which all mics and equipment are tested, and all sound levels are adjusted and verified. Excessive guesswork and “flying by the seat of your pants” during the service can produce many embarrassing errors which can devastate the sensitive mood of a congregation or hinder their reception of ministry.

As it seems to be in most other aspects of a church, there is a diversity of opinions about how the sound system should be operated. You will discover that when the volume level is satisfactory for most, there will still be some who cannot hear well and others who will think it’s too loud. Unfortunately, a sound operator cannot always accommodate every hearing sensitivity. All he can do is try to gauge the volume to an acceptable level for the average listener. A sound operator should have a “few” selected spotters in the audience that can help him gauge volume levels from different locations, but he should avoid being manipulated by the numerous diverse opinions.

A decibel meter is helpful in gauging volume in a auditorium. But even though the volume levels may be set identically during each service, the perception of loudness will be affected by the quantity and seating assignments of the persons in attendance. The presence of each person has an effect on the acoustic environment. A larger crowd will require more volume — a smaller attendance will require less volume.

It is best that only one person, such as one of the ministers or church elders, be authorized to direct or overrule the sound operator’s judgment for the auditorium volume. There should be some way to speak to the operator directly by intercom or headsets. The performers obviously should direct the levels of the stage monitors according to their individual preference. An established system of hand signals is generally the best method of communication between the person on stage and the sound operator.

Frequently, demands are placed on a sound system which cannot always be delivered. All sound systems have their particular limitations. A sound operator should be able to know and define them to performers and congregation, and should be able to give advice how to maximize their performance with a given system. Consequently, it would be helpful for people to also be willing to try to understand the limitations of a system and accept that an operator cannot always perform miracles. The sound operator is often the target of undeserved criticism because of the limitations of what he has to work with.

Ever since Nokia announced the N95 back in September 2006, we knew for sure it was going to be one highly anticipated handset. However, nearly half a year flew past before we got some love from the N95. To most people, this Nokia sounds like a dream come true, with HSDPA, GPS, Wi-Fi, 3G and a 5-megapixel autofocus camera packed into a compact slider. But behind these glossy specifications is a rather disappointing battery life, somewhat sluggish performance and a premium price tag. That said, the N95 will still appeal to tech gadget enthusiasts and, of course, those with deep pockets.

Design
The Nokia N95 is one smart phone that just doesn’t measure up, especially if you consider all the features in its minute size. Although the N95’s footprint is only slightly larger than a credit card, it is thick on the side. In hand, the unit feels surprisingly light. The soft-touch finish on the back is a pleasure to hold, though the plasticky build of the body gives it a less than solid feel.

One of the first things we noticed is the sharp 2.6-inch 240 x 320-pixel screen. The LCD held up well under sunlight and the picture display is crisp and clear–an important criteria as a navigation device– even though it has a nasty habit of holding fingerprints. But what’s really unique to the N95 is the two-way sliding mechanism. Sliding the top lid up reveals the alphanumeric keypad, while pushing it in the other direction exposes a column of media playback keys. These buttons are not touch-sensitive although they appear to be. We have to make a conscious effort to depress it in order to register a particular command.

What’s annoying is when we slide the lid to access the media keys. The screen changes to landscape orientation but doesn’t switch back automatically when the phone is closed. We had to push it further to get to the numeric keys before the screen would go back to portrait mode. The numeric keys, on the other hand, have a ridge-like contoured surface which makes it easy for thumbing our messages and they light up in blue when the ambient sensor detects a dark environment. Likewise for the buttons on the top lid. These are large and provide tactile feedback. If we have to nitpick, the controls on the outer ring are a tad too slim horizontally and there’s no option to map the buttons to specific applications.

There are many things we like on this Nokia: A mini-USB port instead of the proprietary connection for desktop synchronization, a 3.5mm audio jack for our favorite headphones so we don’t have to reach for an adapter, an external memory card slot that supports microSD media up to 2GB, and finally, a pair of onboard stereo speakers sitting along the sides.

On the back of the handset is where we find the 5-megapixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss lens. The ring slider protects the lens from scratches and the integrated flash helps to light up our subjects in dark environments. In use, it’s not different from a dedicated digital camera. We could distinctly feel the half-press action to autofocus before actually taking a shot.
